gala_applesSo I'm an annoying completest, and I realised I'd only done half the days of snowflake, even though I read and thought about them all. So.
Day One: rec yourself.
I have trouble narrowing this down. Not just because I generally like my writing (and for the record I don't think that's conceited, those that fanfic wouldn't fic if they didn't like their shit. The same goes for podficcers, artists, vidders, reccers etc. We all provide fandom a service, and we're all awesome for it) but because I write very multi-band. It's hard to say YOU MUST READ COMMONER AND SCRIBE, because maybe you're not in it for the MCR or PATD. Maybe you like my Cobra fic, or my Pete fic.
That being said, Killin' Before Killin' Was Cool was in my head for ages and went onto paper(screen) pretty much exactly how I'd invisioned, Never Even Considered For Mass Production was a great experiment of telling a story through multiple limited points of view, and One Day Robots Will... was one of my first bandom 5 times stories, and I think I was able to get out a full story with it.
Day Ten: rec a person.
turps. Basically I friended her near the beginning of my fandom switchover, without realising DUH, BNF. Except she didn't act like the BNFs in HP did. She was ...NICE. Holy shit, what are BNF's doing being nice? And she replied to comments that I left. And she read my fic. WTF IS GOING ON, FACTS OF UNIVERSE CRUMBLING AROUND ME. Her fic is brilliant, consistently. I want a 100k more of Day is Night, and I would publish Tints if I could, and she likes hookers and Waycest and GSF and h/c and she's pretty much just the perfect person.
Day Six: fics you read even though ___, but they were fantastic.
The only one I can think of is Romantical's Hanging From The Edges. I have a Brian Kinney-esque aversion to het. To the point where sometimes I find myself saying 'ugh' when one of the five billion het couples on tv fucks. (though I do have a few het OTP's, I'll admit.) However, I also have a strong strap-on kink. Hers has pegging, so I read and it was great, in a WILLIAM BECKETT STOP MAKING POOR LIFE CHOICES sort of way.

I'm not claiming I'm the only one, not by far. We're all in fandom for a reason. But I'm pretty damn good at world building. When I did NaNoWriMo for the first time in 9th grade, I printed off this guide in it's entirety and filled out every question before I started writing. I still have the duo-tang. I think doing that sort of hardwired that into my brain. Now I automatically create worlds. Even if it never comes up, I know everything about every AU I write. I do it watching tv too, 'what would happen if Reid didn't stop taking Lidocaine' or 'what if Oz had accidentally bit Xander in season three?'. I appreciate the characters, I fall for books/movies/tv for the characters. But their worlds/plot/canon bore me, and I will ALWAYS want an AU.
