Sep. 16th, 2011 02:44 amThings I need information about:
1) The newest video game console that wouldn't have an internet connection. wii and xbox are out, I know that much. Also, what is a game you might play on said equipment?
2) If you're sorting music by artist, and it's a mashup, do you pick one of the artists, or say artist is the mash creator?
3) How do I go about getting more time in the day? Is there someone I could send a letter to?
(ps, Bob Bryar continues to be awesome on the internet. Nice shot to the nards at failicone.)

3. I think what you want is a Stasis Field.

Date: 2011-09-16 11:34 am (UTC)obviously there are exceptions for every rule but as a general idea.
Wii is for multiplayer more often than not. It was the first to offer the point-style controller and so you'll find stuff for families a lot on here. E.g. Mariokarts, Wii sports (including fencing and bowling) and games like Rockband are best known on this platform.
Exception: If you like farming sims etc then Rune Factory Frontier is a charming little anime/life/farm/fantasty sim that I quite enjoy.
Xbox 360 has been around for a very long time, it offers the Fable series and the Elder Scrolls and as such has become known as teh platform championing non-Japanese RPGs (as opposed to Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire anime style storytelling) It also offers a lot of film based cash ins and some of the more popular sports games.
Exception: Eternal Sonata is a JRPG offered only on the Xbox that is very unique and quite a lot of fun.
Playstation 3 has had some trouble with its network, not that that's a problem if you don't hook it up to the internets. It's meat and potatoes is the network though, where you can buy some of the older games that were released on the old PS1 and PS2 (and that was where Sony really really shone.) I don't know a great deal about the newer games on PS3 other than the Japanese market favours them, with games like White Knight on offer that really push storytelling to its limits.
I'm afraid my console gaming experience is largely based on RPGs, so I can't offer much comment outside that genre. However, Mark and I have been playing some of the indie or small developer games on the Xbox, like Braid and Bastion (both of which available on the PC as well) and have come to love the work that Xbox do to promote games like it. My recommendations are usually towards Xbox, it's been going longer, so has a great spread of games, it's stable - particually the newer units, and I like the controllers, you can't really say fairer than that.
Handheld consoles are a whole other ballgame. I didn't think you were asking about those though. :)

Date: 2011-09-16 03:31 pm (UTC)All of the recent platforms support internet(doesn't mean they will automatically be set up for it). If you most certainly need it to be a console without net at all. You're going to have to go back years(back to the very early 2000s if not late 90's). The Original X-box had issues with its power cord but graphices wise was cool. I played the original halo on it. A Soul Caliber edition, snowboarding game(forgot the title),The Lord of the Rings games(Fellowship was very very very book focused while the other two were not), The Original Guitar hero was for both x-box and playstation. It's prolly possible it could have connected to the net but you would have needed an adaptor for it.
Then if you need to go back farther, there's some other little game systems called the Nintendo Game Cube, the Dreamcast, and of course the Nintendo 64(older models). The 64 didn't do internet to the best of my knowledge. The Gabe cube was mostly mario titles. The 64 could support those as well.
My sister and I had a Dreamcast. It had some issues because you had to charge it monthly to get it to run smoothly. Also, apparently it could get on the internet but we never used that function. It could play dvds but you needed an adaptor. It was right before the x-box so of course it didn't last long buttttttt it had some kick ass graphics for the time. I played snowboarding games, fishing games, and fighter games on it(hell I still have the titles laying around somewhere.
I have left out the playstations(my sister uses playstations I use x-box) and the old Sega systems(because the dreamcast was Sega's last attempt for a game console) and any handheld consoles

Date: 2011-09-16 03:35 pm (UTC)3-I don't know about letters but perhaps petitioning for a couple more hours a day might work(is a petition a letter?). Or we could go about building some type of freeze machine that freezes time so everyone but us stops and we can finish shit and then un freeze them after.
and yes I had to split this comment up because apparently I had thoughts on gaming consoles. Back before fic reading/wrting I was a pretty big gaming teenager(mostly fighting games, amd actiony games) I'm rarely an rpger so if you need non rpg titles I could try to be helpful

Date: 2011-09-16 06:02 pm (UTC)2.when I put an artist on the mash-up, I almost always go for the artist who did the mashing. I have a mash-up of lady gaga and taylor swift done by a duo named wallpaper, and a mash- up of underoath and mewithoutyou done by the legion of doom. In these cases, I always list the artist as the person who did the mix--wallpaper or legion of doom respectively.
