Feb. 2nd, 2011 11:42 pmOkay, so while I don't want to become one of those fans that's like THEY CARE ABOUT MY PERSONAL EXISTENCE, because I am not delusional, there's a thing about RPF compared to other fandoms. And that is that these are people, people who like things. And sometimes they happen to like things that you like. And for just a minute it makes you flail like a mad woman.
It's happened to me a few times. When I first started reading Panic fic I was like THEY PLAY GUITAR HERO? BUT THEY ALREADY PLAY MUSIC WHY WOULD THEY...I DON'T CARE THIS IS AWESOME. That sort of happened again at the games thing in Paris.
I think my post of several posts made it pretty clear I am gleeful about Gway and co playing Magic. Sub-plot of BBB in which Gway and others owning their own collectables store makes me :DDDD, I just need to make sure it doesn't turn into a Gerard fic rather than a Mikey fic.
And I'm sure there are tons of other times where for just a moment you want to happily flail. Like when Mikey wore the girl-tiger shirt and the english fangirls found a copy. Or they drink Coke-Zero. Or god knows a lot of people are now writing fangirly!Gerard/Grant Morrison because people like this guy for the other stuff he's done besides be creepyass Korse.
I've found my most recent thing to squeal over. I cannot contain my excite at:

Basically, Death Row Records is a fictional music company from this so terrible it's amazing movie called Phantom of the Paradise. (combine Faust, Phantom of the Opera, Dorian Grey, and the music and drug and sex culture of the seventies) It came out in 1974, and bombed EVERYWHERE. Except Winnipeg. In every other city it opened it played at most two weeks, here it lasted sixteen. My dad's told me stories of going to the Garrick theatre at noon and watching it six times in a row. After it stopped running one of the main characters did a concert in Winnipeg, it sold out in minutes and they booked a second show, which also sold out. And then they brought the movie back and played it in more theatres.
I grew up watching it as much as Rocky Horror. Probably more often, actually. It took me a long time to understand the meth and orgy jokes though, anything I didn't 'get' my parents refused to explain. In 2006 Winnipeg had a Phantompolooza, in which they showed the movie at the Concert Hall, and then they had all the singers of the musical come and perform live versions of their songs. It was epic, I got a signed program, and a shirt. And Gerard Way is WEARING MY SHIRT. Gerard Way likes my movie, the movie i've shown to friends at cons and during travelling and no one that's not from Winnipeg has ever liked it. HI GERARD WAY, THANKS FOR BEING SUPER AWESOME IN YOUR FILM TASTES.

Date: 2011-02-03 11:37 pm (UTC)hahahah it just occured to me that if he ever was in Star Wars fandom, like is suspected with his 'star wars notes' thing, he totally would have been a BNF because he'd be a really great artist. *cannot stop laughing*

Date: 2011-02-21 02:37 am (UTC)Another weird ass movie I love is Baseketball. If you can find a torrent for it, download it. I had in vhs before I bought it on DVD so I could continue to watch it. The two main actors are the two guys that write SouthPark, and I could watch that movie a dozen times and never stop laughing.
