thankfully the girl i was talking to on yahoo at the time was like 'write this as a teaser, and then if more people want to read it you can write a sequel in the verse later'. so i managed to cut things off at 1300 words.

but i can still answer your question.
style- how far into your animal shape you are. ie, if mikey was full-style he'd be 100% cat, except for his thought processes. half style could be he's human shaped but has a thin layer of fur, or he's got the facial features of the cat but the body of a human.
halfnhalf- those that spend most of their time half-style. pete is one of them, he's basically a centaur.
bobbles- those that are nearly full-style, all their animal shape except their heads, so they can talk like humans.
LWLers- this world's number one type of bigot; stands for Like With Like, they're the people that think you should only hang out with your kind of animal. The Used are all dogs, and Gerard, also a dog, got dragged into their way of thinking for a bit.
goin' long- when females have to take on human form for 9 months so they can give birth. as i don't care at all about genetics and have decided that any birth parents can give birth to any kind of animal, if mom is a mouse and womb-baby is going to be a tiger this could go very badly. (mom would explode from the inside out due to lack of room) but if they stay human for those nine months, so does the baby.

gabe is 100% yes a octopus. actually everything that started came from 'who the fuck can i make be an Little Mermaid Ursula-like octopus that human _ and _ going to the beach stumble across', and then as soon as i decided that gabe was an octopus pete was like WELL THEN, IMMA BE A HORSE and then i was like 'fuck it, i'll just write an animorph style world.' but i've never actually READ animorphs, so i just did my own thing. it was just going to be this simple thing where cat mikey has run out of other catboys to fuck and is sad, and horsepete is like fuck outside your species, idiot, imma call my friend gabe up. and then there would be sex.

except then i started thinking about what the wrong would really be like, and how furniture might change, and what politics might be like, i mean if the LWLers are basically the homophobes/Westboro Church of the world, does that mean that LWLers are an offshoot of Republicans? and if they are, what are the democrats like? and is everyone in power sixth-style, with hardly anything to show what animal they are, or can the president be a bobbler?

i think this switch flipped in my head that was like YOU WANT TENTACLES? I'VE BEEN DOWN WITH SCI-FI SINCE THE THIRD GRADE!
