I'm not sure how many of you have read the Ender/Bean series by Orson Scott Card. The author is a douche, but nearly all of his books are fascinating. (I'm excluding the ones he writes based on religion, obvs) This particular series starts off with the premise that to create great soldiers for an outerspace war, one must start young. IE: five. Ender and Bean are both children that go to Battle School, and their stories are very different. Things turn to aliens and settling new planets for Ender, and to politics for Bean. I actually ended up picking up the ninth book in the series today, it's a war for what comes first, the new Ender book, or the seventh Artemis Fowl book.

Anyway, I highly recommend the series, if you don't want to give a batshit Mormon money, check them from the library! But when I was looking at my crossover table and saw Outerspace, there was no choice but an MCR/Ender's Game crossover.

Title: Saving and Being Saved
Fandoms: Bandom (My Chemical Romance)/Ender's Game
Rating: G
Wordcount: 1960
Warnings: multiple POVs, slight Battle School bashing. (Which puts me on fair footing, as Ender himself bashed by the end)
Characters: Mikey Way, Gerard Way, Frank Iero, Bob Bryar, Ray Toro, Carn Carby
Summary: Five boys and Battle School. Nobody is satisfied, but one can imagine Graff doesn't care.

I saw "Ender/Bean" and I thought... OMG there's Ender/Bean slash!?! :) It's been a long time since I read the series (I stopped around book... 4 or 5?), but absolutely I loved it when I was a teen. Huh, I didn't know Orson Scott Card was a Mormon.

yeah, i really liked the series. sometimes it got a bit too philosophical, but that's what skimming was invented for!

yeah, he's sort of a douche, of the homosexuality is a vice, just like any other vice, you're not necessarily going to hell, you just have to stop yourself from doing it. the only book he's ever written with a gay character, the gay character gets accused of pedophilia and he gets castrated. and he's got one series about the women of genesis, which i haven't read because i recognise that word and trust me, not my thing. and another series which is basically the retelling of the mormon history. on the other hand, he's got books like the ender/bean series, and the alvin series, and individual books like treason. so my mindset is as long as i ignore the creepy religious books, and the douchy writer, i can enjoy the good books.

What's the first book in the series? I'm always looking to start new books.

Also, do you recommend Artemis Fowl? I have the first of those books at home to start.

it's sort of two mini series(es). basically it starts off with either ender's game, or ender's shadow. ender's game is from ender's pov, ender's shadow is from bean's pov. some of the events are told in both books, but from their seperate povs. you can read either first, though technically ender's game was published first. but by the end of the books they're in totally different places. and then the shadows (bean) series continues with: shadow of the hegemon, shadow puppets, and shadow of the giant. the ender series continues with ender in exile, speaker for the dead, xenocide, children of the mind.

i quite enjoy the series. it's got this smart ass sense of humor. and i love that through out the first book, and continuing a bit into the later ones, the protagonist is consistently the most 'evil' of characters. it's something you don't tend to see in YA. some people ship the books, i don't, i don't think they need to be, i can enjoy them without it.
